New picture posted of wheels on my project thread…............

Easy to fit rim tape, comes in self adhesive pre bent strips, you just overlap them, you can't really see joins either.

where did you get it? Ebay? They only have rim tape for bikes….

tape is tape mate. get the right size for your wheels. my mx 3 and ktm both have 17's so if i felt inclined i could rim tape both.

    'salreet. Got some

  • Well I ended up taking off those JDM front splitters as I wasnt that keen
on the fitment, back on ebay they go! unless someone wants to make me an offer?lol

Anyways the new plan for the front end now is to buy the buddy club style front bumper and mod that to my own tastes.

    from this:

    to this:

should give ample space for the FMIC 8)

  • Nice looking bumper! When I sprayed my MX3 I removed the stock grill bit from the middle of the bumper and after painting it, put black mesh in its place, I think it looks much better than stock.

Saying that, I only done that as I'm a tight git and did not want to pay for an aftermarket bumper, mainly because i think most look shite, but that one is 8)

  • That MX looks sweet.

  • that is one nice lokin mx

Yes most do look shit I agree and had thought about cutting the grille out too
as it does look better as you said.
but after finding that bumper for sale in Europe i dont mind paying postage on
it compared to the USA stuff wich is ££££ to deliver
    :?

  • @beb1318b09=jay:

that is one nice lokin mx

Its making want a white mx

  • Not a huge fan of many bumpers, but that looks sweet, more so your 'shopped version. White and carbon is a good look too. Hope the fitments decent for you!

  • Cheers, yep lets hope so! there is a very good bodyshop round the corner
from me so if it's not I may get them to do it….
... going to get some XYZ coilovers first though I've decided, then the bumper :D

Also made the decision to stop looking for an IHI VJ11 turbo
as they are few and far between and ideally i want to fit a new turbo!
So im going to start work on an adaptor block to take the IHI flange
on the turbo manifold to be able to accept a garrett T25, T28 or even GT series roller bearing turbo 8)

Breif guestimation of costs of turbo conversion for anyone interested:

    Turbo~ £300 or less.
Management~£700 roughly for greddy emanage blue igntion & fuel
    fitted and mapped.
    Cluch~£150.
    Wideband lambda~£120.
    Exhaust~£70 if I DIY it.
Turbo dump pipe~£50 or less depending on type.
    Injectors~£50 or less
    Intercooler~50 or less
    boost pipes~£50 or less
    oil lines~£20
    water pipe connectors~£10

Now that little lot should be tuneable to 230bhp with the right turbo on standard internals from reading on some of the mx5 forums, but a nice reliable 190 will do me nicely

  • roughly the same power as putting a klze in, which is cheaper and easier though?

    Saying that everyone loves a t-bo :P :P :P

  • thats a fair comment, done a engine swap before though (205gti1.6>2.0LTurbo)
and fancied a bolt on upgrade this time aroiund, plus I like to be different ;)

Nice swap bet that was nice!

    Different is good :D

  • cheers yeh it were proper BO, werent many of them around either at the time, its quite a popular conversion now :)
Im yet to find another mx3 1.6 turbo in the UK though…

you dont need to swap to uprated fuel pump when you do the klze
    do you?

  • mazda rx7 walbro 225 fuel pump is the popular choice on turbo zes
n/a stock pump is fine will still run rich.

  • @861b5d151d=youdirtyfox:

No the stock fuel pump easily delivers enough pressure for a NA KLZE

  • Cool, no need to swap yet.

Looking at the piggyback ecu side of things i can save
a couple hundred quid by buying and fitting an emanage
myself with a boomslang plug and play harness with knock sensor.

    make that a safe 165bhp then,lol

    @3cfcfccc54:

The Greddy eManage will return better fuel economy on a low boost setup and works well up to about 180bhp (1.8) or 165bhp (1.6) but makes compromises to the tuning as the power increases. If you are wanting 200bhp or more, then we highly recomend the Emerald ECU (our preferred engine management solution). The Emerald tuned on the rolling road outstrips both BEGI FMU and Greddy eManage in number of features, economy and driveability

  • i would recomed fcon, omex or pectal ecu

  • depends on where i going for mapping will
depend upon there chosen ECU really,
not sure i can stretch to full standalone though.

That quote^ is from mx5mad in essex.
