  • one more question, will the DE driveshafts fit the mazda as mine are knocking like a bitch :( think i bought a bit of a shed lol

  • if it keeps dying like that check the leads at night see if sparks are coming off them as you wont see it in the day, if so new set of leads required, also check all the leads on the long ends that go onto the plugs, I had one that cracked down the side and the car would barely run until I changed it

Thanks mate, will have a look tonight. I have cleaned out all the plugs (fired up the engine while each one was out individually to get any excess oil out) and its still missing. and the front of my car is now covered in oil :( lol

  • What's the cap and rotor like?

  • I have no idea lol. i dont know a good one from a bad one.

  • I have a brand spankers set of leads if required, and brand new cap + rotor if they fit yours

  • I can get a KLDE engine delivered with under 100k foe about £250 but without ECU and probably wouldnt be here until the weekend. and i still need driveshafts. am i better off just buying a probe if the shafts fit?

  • good one looks clean with clean metal contacts, bad one looks worn away and sometimes almost furry with corrosion.

also check the cap and plastic on the distributer for cracks, that can let the leccy run all over the show and cause a misfire, only a couple of bolts hold the whole lot in, easy to remove

  • dont worry DJ, you were right in the first place. the plug on lead no 6 has a massive split in it about 3/4 the length of the plug! is there a temporary fix i can do? i dont think electrical tape will hold up with the heat lol. how much for the leads mate, i'll have a lil look on ebay quickly

  • I can do you the leads for £25 inc P&P, if that plastic is split that goes into the head then that causes major probs with running
I will PM my paypal over and get them posted tomorrow if you want

  • cheers mate all done

  • As I think we have a keen member with a white car and we have gulfy with the gulf racing colours, yours now seems perfect for the martini racing colours :D

  • lol no thanks haha. i think the mazda looks like a baby DB7. well mine looks like a shed but most of yours look like that pmsl

  • its back firing on 6 :D thanks so much DJ really appreciate it. the oil has yet to return to the spark plug wells as well. does anyone think the gasket may not have gone after all?

  • Get an mx-6 driveshaft they fit better than the probe or 626 ones, just had mine replaced.

  • Perhaps your intermittent spark may have caused some pressure build up when it finally did spark, so maybe your PCV got overloaded and shoved oil past the gasket… Or it just hasn't built up again yet ;) If it's manageable and you're DEing soon then hey leave it!

thanks bud, may look into buying a whole 6 in that case. i found one for £400 but no tax and no logbook (apparently the old owner stitched him on it?) would mean a risky drive home lol.

yeah its manageable mate, if it doesnt come back then great. it may have had the oil in there since i bought the car, i didnt check the wells. and me driving at silly speed on the way home may have overheated that oil causing the HT lead plug to split. i dont think its been driven at more than 60mph in the last 10 years lol

  • ok ordered some lovely shiny new paint cans today, colour matched to the UF paint on the vehicle. will be picking them up on tuesday at a small cost of £30 for 2 400ml tins!!! just gotta hope its enough to do the rear bumper, front splitter and the middle section of the boot…... time will tell lol

Said it before and will say again, rattle cans are shit! Rant over, shame I live on the Isle of Wight, could help out a few people on here with their bodywork, if they were more local!

Whites the easiest colour to repair bodywork wise, good luck!
