**Quit stealing my life! I'm about to do mine too!

The only specialist tool you need is a piston windback tool. But you can do without - take the top off the brake fluid reservoir and push 'em back in with a flat blade screwdriver. Other than that, I think the caliper's held in place with a pair of 12mm hex bolts and that's that (apart from taking the wheels off). Should get away with 20 minutes a corner, but more if the piston's sticky.

Edit: Bit of string too, to support the caliper - shouldn't let it hang on the brake line alone, though I imagine you already know that.**

  • Been putting it off for too long mate fronts a shot to bits,,,starting to get brake fade now…

  • Possibly the only other thing i can think of is a rubber mallet to encourage the discs off if they're stuck

i use a 7lbder for the car..my rubber one i only use that for breaking fingers lol..

  • the brake pad pins on mine took hrs to get out. so just bare that in mind. i pushed on the old pads when they were still in place to get the pistons in. doesnt mater if the discs were damaged as they were getting dumped anyway. release the hand brake for when your playing with the rears. back ones you can wind in with long nosed pliers.

  • Thanks all for the replies i have Wes booked in on a diy ramp to get this done all tools are provided so no worries theres…
Looking forward to getting to grips on it all at last, been a long old winter aint it.. lots to do..

  • Did all mine today, completely stripped them wire wheeled everything, painted and back together, the discs are held on with 2 screws, just take an impact driver just in case they are seized, the calipers on the MX's have a tendancy to seize so if you are not replacing calipers buy a pin kit for your calipers and replace all the pins + slides, doesnt take long and it will save you hassle in the future

AND DONT FORGET TO COVER EVERY MOVING THING WITH COPPER SLIP
