Underdrive pulley?

  • is this real figures?

i know a few people have these under drive pulleys but 7-9hp sounds like a big claim to me.

  • Every engine is different.

one might get 2bhp another might get 9bhp.

due to the companys who machine the engine components no engines exact :)

  • myself, im looking for a underdrive pully for the v6, but this add is for the 1.6 4 cylinder…is it used on the v6 aswell or is there a different one..

  • v6 one is different, options are:
    cosmo racing
    unorthadox racing
    bulk buy on probetalk $79

I think 5bhp was dyno proven for the v6s, as welly says results may vary ;)

  • Thankyou Marco…

  • Remember underdrive crank pulleys do not have harmonic balancers in them, this will damage your engine over the longterm. I would never fit one personally.

Being new to the mx3 v6 this is something i did'nt know and am a sponge when if comes to new info on what to look for etc, so thanks again for this,
i will have to think twice over this, if its worth doing..

  • Well this has been debated a fair bit. I put 12k miles on my UDP and have only felt an improvement ( engine had 117k now 130ish?). Many racing product developers argue that the less mass actually puts less strain on the crank than stock. In hand with that the sheer minimal weight has little negative effect on the balance of the crank. I think there's truth in both sides of the argument.

My experience has been good, but quite honestly I haven't transferred it to my KLZE because I have a fidanza flywheel which takes off all the weight I need off the rotating assembly.

If you want more power, just bite the bullet and get a 2.5 in :)

  • agreed mate, i will be going down the 2.5 route later on when funds are more available, until then though i would like to squeeze the most from what i have…lol..at the moment i'll just stick to my suspension and brake upgrades..not forgetting some new wheels of course..

  • yea the good thing is upgrades like SS headers, UDP, flywheel are all interchangeable with the 2.5s. Much like the ebay turbo kit? ;) would beat most ZEs, but probably cost you more really. Anyway yes sort out suspension and some nice wheels :)

  • Dont forget thermo gaskets from outlaw enginering for your IM, MX3 suffer from very bad heat soak. These really help.
