Manifold question

  • @896af9ca53=noluv:

    @896af9ca53=Marco:

:? 2 manifolds - v6 engine, 2 banks of 3 cylinders, therefore 1 manifold per bank. There's only one cat.

    exhaust route is:

manifold 1–--\Downpipe/Ypipe > cat > middle exhaust with silencer > backbox
    manifold 2----/

The usa SS headers and y pipe are a bargain, I had mine sent over, took a while but it's a lot of metal for the money :)

who did you use in usa marco?
i may get my de cat from over there as there cheap, may just order the lot though.
    thanks for reply

ps de cat question,my cars a k reg and defo registered in 92, am i 100% allowed a decat?i dont mind if not as il swap when it comes to mot time.
    thanks again

When the vehicle is logged onto the MOT computer, the tester gets a vehicle report stating what emissions test is required.

I have had some cars on a L-reg that dont require a CAT test due to them being built pre -emssions and not being sold that year and register the following.

    thank you.
would it be on my mot certificate or have any kind of code to say if it had to?
i got the mot and a receipt kind of piece of papper with some pass results to certain stuff.
im just wondering because i dont know weather to sell my cat or keep it for mot for just incasers.

can you find out at work mechanic if i give you my reg?
    thanks

  • You should have a copy of the emmisions print out, can you take a picture and post it and i can tell you if it needs a CAT test.

Mine has no CAT it went through the test ok and its a K plate.

  • test class is IV

  • That was a CAT test that your car took, it looks nice and clean. If you take your CAT off it might just get through but cant be sure. If you dont mind taking your CAT on and off for the MOT then i would do just that.

They are easy to remove on the drive, make sure you use new nuts and bolts. So when you come to swap them over for its test it will be easier to do.

Also dont use proper exhaust nuts or nylon thread ones, exhaust nuts are pinched to grab the thread better but they sometimes screw the thread and nylon just melt. I would suggest using spring washers instead.

  • ok mate,
thanks again, hey just seen a piccy of you,you into your guns?
im just waiting for a safe to apply for fac and shotgun, you been shooting long?

its getting me down, engines mint i know cuz its got full history from mazda with stupid amounts of money spent on it,its just the body work and my pals messin me about with getting it done.

yea i will probly try take it in and if they say it needs the de cat just swap it,i know now not to just scrap the cat.

is it possible,it did not need the cat test but they just put it threw?

  • There is a slim possiblity that they just stuck it through for a CAT test.

Well i have been shooting for about 13 years now, started of on rifles then starting using shotguns about 4 years ago. Own 3 air rifles 2 hunting rifles and a shotgun.

I live in the country not alot else to do other than shoot and drive fast lol.
