V6 turning over but not igniting PLEASE HELP

  • Car was driving perfectly up to Monday morning when I reversed out of the drive way and put the car into 1st gear to take off, then she died.
Had a mechanic to take a quick look, all fuses are fine and the pump is working fine, although he noticed there was no sparking in the leads. Has anybody experienced this problem before? Dont want to have to go to the dealer to run a diagnostics, cost a fortune. Cheers for your help

  • I had this problem when installed my KLZE, i swapped the distributor over from my K8 and it fired up, i had no spark think the coil in the distributor broke down.

  • sounds like the distributor to me

  • 95% sure distributor its a a fairly common fault on our motors heh.

  • and why is that? Shitsubishi made it! And what other part did they make that often freezes up? The rear calipers!

  • Didn't they also make the VRIS solnoids?

  • why are yours broken?

I think you're right, I think the solonoids (inc FPR etc) are mitsu. Though the actuators are mazdarrrrs genious, so doubt they'd outsource that, that'd be like honda outsourcing VTAKKKK YEOWWWWWWW

  • Not sure if this applies to MX-3, but on later Probes, if the crank position sensor plug is loose or dirty, the car will not run at all. Worth a check.

  • Yep worth checking as it does apply to mx3s. If it were me I'd get the LED out and pull some codes ;)

  • Thanks for all the suggestions i've picked up a replacement distributor so ill let ye know on Wednesday if that was the culprit.

Did you try the CPS plug before you spent your cash? You possibly dont need a distributor.

  • Sorry bout the delay, it was indeed the distributor….. simple fix luckily picked one up from a breakers yard in Sligo for €50
