Painting OEM euro h4 headlamp housings

  • lol I've been putting it off… I don't even have the car here yet I will install them on so there is no rush for me :D

  • ok I put the lenses back on but it will be another month until they are installed on the fast car…

  • looking good. but not sure if we in uk can get away with the black on MOT etc as last time i had mine my one light was just legal as was slightly too dim and that was from the dust on the chrome lens. anyone got any ideas on that

I'm not familiar with the MOT but the black does not inhibit light in any way and it's just as bright as before I painted it since the light only reflects off the back chrome piece and not the whole housing.

  • Good job Mark :D Did you just reuse the old sealant? I think they'd be fine with MOT as it's not the functional part being painted… Think I might give it a go.

  • very tempted to do it myself

  • im tempted but think im going to wait to see how you guys get on.

    Thats what I think.
I suppose you could use some ultra bright H4 bulbs to help???

  • all that bit on mines a mat gray as all the silvers worn off so wont make much difrance to mine

  • lol the light only reflects off the back of the reflector not the painted black part… augh :x

I'll post up before and after pics of the light output with standard gray and then the black...

  • awesome job moon
