Factory fitted alarm on 1993 1.8 v6

  • need help im trying to upgrade the standard alarm system the i need the wireing diagram to get around thr standerd immobilizer can anyone help?

  • you have a factory fitted alarm?? well either mine was never standard, or i just removed the standard imobiliser, i know im the later cars the key was chipped and that worked the imobiliser.

only thing i can think of is the immobiliser isn't factory fitted, or you have a later than 93 mx-3.

so to answer the question, after removing my own alarm/immobiliser, take of the cowling under the ignition barrel, most fitters will just unplug the old wiring harness, and plug the new immobiliser wiring in, so see if theres a plug with 4 wires attached, all of them thick, colours are…red, black, blue and..another colour, if theres one of these unplugged, then unplug the wires going into the ignition barrel and plug the other cable in.

if yours doesn't, then it may be a cheaper one, where the original wiring has to be cut and the imobiliser wiring put in, so check for any signs of this, usually indicated by electrical tape. then just reconnect the wires...the wires will be on the other end of the imobiliser.

if none of the above work then we'll need more information, has the immobiliser got an alarm with it? otherwise you may end up with a constantly sounding alarm if you do the above!

  • I did not know that ANY mx-3's came with factory fitted alarms….

  • i know wot your sayin but ive had all the bottom half of the dash off looking for the wires and to be honest its not fair coz as ive followed the wires thay go straight into the main harness with no signs of being tamperd with.
The only reason i can think of why it has this alarm fitted is because its the special edition but ill take some pics and post then up later on today

  • what part of the ignition system is immobilized? the starter, fuel or spark?

  • not sure to be honest, i think it immobilized the dizi but i think im going to strip half the dash down and just trace the wires and see where thay lead so when i get round to it ill post up my results in the project section

  • arr right, well you might find the immobiliser in the engine bay if its only the spark, have you tried connecting the live part of the coil to a different live? the coil live is the blue wire running from the plug with three wires on the distributor and the negative is the red one, try testing these with the immobiliser on and off, and if the results are different then bypass the immobiliser…or find out where the wires come from.

The only other way to stop the spark would be through the ECU spark signal, the only way to get past this part is to trace the wire to the ECU and taking out any bockages...ie the immobiliser

  • thanks ill try that and c how far i get but can you tell me where the ECU is located just so i know

  • The ECU is behind the dash, if you look where the headunit is, its pretty much directly behind there, look to the left and right of it and you will see two black panels that meet the carpet, take of the one on the passenger side and you'll see all the wires going to the ECU which is bolted to the floor

  • mine also had a factory fitted alarm which i cant seem to get working. i cant be bothered to change mine over but i would like the factory alarm to work. i think the make of it is called fastline and it says on my key fob genuine mazda alarm.
