Roll cage

  • was going to sell the mazda but after much diliberation
im goin to turn it into a on road track slag
anyone know if there is a cage on the market for the mx

  • make 1 or get 1 made.

  • well obviously duh
but i was wondering if anyone had any links to a kit that was in production, just maes things easier
probobly get on from custom cages or infinity now

  • **DO NOT get a roll cage in a car to be used on the road.

Roll cage + helmet = live.
Roll cage + skull = die.**

  • obviously im only planning on possibly making use of the roll cage ion the track, well only if i have to, were i would b wearing a helmet
were on the road i wnt give it enough stick to roll it (he says)

**With the greatest of respect, that's what they all say.

I'm nearly 30, and boring and sensible. Give me a stripped out MX-3 KL-ZE and a twatty Chav in a 9-zorsted Saxo at a set of lights and you can bet I'm going to be giving it beans (up to the point of the speed limit anyway).

Anything protruding into the cabin that you can strike your bonce on is not a good idea. If you're putting a roll cage in, either limit your road miles severely or trailer it everywhere.

That said, I know some people with a 9-second Challenger which is road legal (covering 50 miles a year, including trips to Morrison's, with a full MoT) and has a pretty solid roll cage.**

  • well this is the thing
ive got a clio v6, so ive got me giggles there
but im going to get rid of the rear hatch, no perspex, nothing. gone
so therfire for safety am realli goig tio need to cage it
ive got two car trailers, so could trailer it if need be
but would make sure all the "intrusion" bars were padded

  • Why bother with a roll cage?

You would have a hell of a job to roll an mx3 anyway unless you hit something to tip it over.. Most tracks have plenty of run off anyway..

I wouldn't bother myself (At your own risk) it only adds weight..
    Just my opinion..

  • lol,
    too late :D
hve one custom built out of stainless steel
quite minimal coturuction, just a rear hoop and x bar
and its all bolt in bolt out
and i weighs, get this, 8.7 kg :P

  • @23b9fcdc95=pdtrewern:

Why bother with a roll cage?

I could be wrong but isn't a roll cage required by some tracks before they let you race your car?

  • 'Race' your car may be a requirement as you said, but track days you will be fine.. did silverstone a couple of weeks ago no problem…

  • maybe hes a illegal racer..

which can't fault him for, you pay money on road tax,get shit roads, and when u want to park u cant.

get your moneys worth some how.

  • na. it was more for show really,
to compiment the stripped out interior
but i still want to track it so its an added safety measure
just waiting for me cork sport rear bar, an it wil finish it off
