Altezza Tail lights - Are they any good?? (quality, fitment)

  • As you car is red, I'd be more inclined to do a red tint on the rear lights. You can get the tinting spray for around £10 and it comes in red.

But get some masking tape and mask up the clear lens for the reversing lights, as a red tint on them makes them look pink. Mask them of and leave them clear.

The effect can be quite stunning and helps the rear of the car blend together, whereas the imitation lexus style lights has been rather over done I feel… and every, saxo, corsa... chav car has them. :)

But as I said... it's obviously not my type of mod... but it's your car and your choice. :)

  • I disagree, the ones I bought were an excellent fit and I've not had any condensation in them.

Valley- Undo the three screws on the top of the light, remove the plastic plate from the top and the cluster unclips to the left or right (depending on the side of the car.) Bulb holders then unclip from underneath. Its not hard to do I literally had my old ones off changed the bulbs and fitted the new ones in 20 minutes

  • ty never tried to do it just need to know. also want to clean them bug in left where dummy fog is.

also have to say that even tho chav cars have them. the mx-3 ones sent the rear end off with the curves of the car. unlike other car versions. corsa…. etc

I'm not saying you're wrong. Just that ones I've seen have been of very poor quality. There is probably more than one company making them and perhaps the quality is different between makes.

I also think they have to be on the right colour car to look good.

I agree they look ok on an MX3… if they're the black ones. I also think they look even better tinted dark or red... so you can barely see the round lights underneath until they light up. :)

I have these lights with the crome look (on a red mx3), and personally think they suit the red!!

I have had a condensation problem with one of them, but this was only due to the seal at the top going, fix the seal and they are fine now!!

  • i've had them for a couple of years on mine, and never had a problem with them. The plastic is still as clear as ever, and no condensation at all!

A lot of the civic lights and other more popular cars have condensation problems, but i never hear anyone complaining about the mx3 ones on the forums!

  • hmmm not sure what to do now…......it seems the forum is 50 50 on them. I'm leaning towards getting a set having seen a few pictures, just have to hope they fit okay.

  • ah screw it I'm going to get the chrome ones, have to dig my digi camera out and get some before and after pics on the projects page!

  • whoaaa, surely these have to be a better quality than the one on offer on ebay for this price!!!!!

having said that doubt i would pay over 200 quid for them!

  • £200! Bloody hell, I didn't pay anywhere near that for mine and I'm more than happy with the quality.

Same seller I bought mine off only in silver not black £88.99 Inc shipping.

  • Well i just purchased some black altezzas from ebay recently for $69 (usd)I went with the black ones b/c my car is black metallic and it'll blend in pretty good. I really don't think any of them are ricey, except for the fake carbon fiber ones… being fake that is! I have heard that some of the ebay ones tend to fog up due to leaks caused by cheap sealing. With that in mind, i'm gonna reseal it with some silicone before installing them. (My 2 Cents)

  • I have the chrome altezzas. they had condensation so I drilled holes. After a while I sprayed over them completely with translucent red paint and they look like ghost altezzas now behind the red…

I have the fake CF ones on my other mx-3 (just because black would look bad) the CF looks gray from a distance and matches the primer

I have also tinted my amber signals red with the same translucent red paint on my OEM stock lights.

  • Had the black ones on my car for about 5 months now and I've had no problems with water getting in or condensation and this end of the country has had more than its fair share of rain in the past few months
