Induction kits

  • fecking 56k connection  link takin ages!

just dont be like a honda head! and throw on big vents but not have a hole cut for them! cos in that case they are just like an air brake!

hey if u wana see some cool vents! go to www.jdm-per4mance.com and look up the mx3 bonney they have! now thats the business! if you put a vent in the centre then it would be the dogs!

wire mesh only stops crap falling into the engine! seen as your not going performance with ur car ur grand with the vents!

im going all out so iv got a oil cooler system which will be mounted in the grill infront of the intercooler

  • @13dc06f277=Bellers:

One quick question, doesn't a bonnet provide a certain amount of protection for the engine too? from rain, road crap, spashes and anything else? does this need to be taken into consideration when installing vents? last thing you want is water in your electronics!

in a petrol car the only real things you have to ming i your distributer and spark plugs.

by placing a vent at the back of the block you will be far enough from it! also the distributer and plugs are in the centre of the bay so the vent should be facing the the windscreen so unless you are triving in reverse at high speeds you have nothing to worry about. and the vents facing forwards are away from anything like that.

but anyway! the tiny amount of water that would get in there wouldn affect the engine too easy remember they all have seals! only stuff like powerhosing your engine etc. dose that damage!

  • chears mate. thats the thing if i do something to my car especially near engine want it to actually do something not just be there. if it helps the engine out then will do it. seeing as not swapping. more cold air the better. (oowww ice packs lol joke)

  • oh and them vents are useless! they are too small!
go back to the bage b4 the one u linked me and under exterior make = mazda model= mx3 there is a big black one racing vent! thats what you weill be looking for to get any sort of help!

  • slightly lost there mate realised that ones were fake vents
but looking fore real same sort of style

  • If you are having the vents over the inlet watch for water getting in the Injector sockets….

Wherever you put a vent on a bonnet it will cool the engine bay down as any escape will be usefull. When i stop at a junction i get a haze in front of me pouring out my vents.......due to the distortion of the light passing through the warmer, less dense air, causing refraction :)

  • 2nd one

  • Good choices, I like the MR2 one.

But I bet thay are an arse to fit.

Anyone seen a fitting guide with pics anywhere?

  • for what? :?

  • For either of those bonnet vents.

  • its a simple case of cutting out the section and fiberglassing it in!

  • ive been brain storming….. ok here goes, create a simple scoop like effect and place at the bottom of your front bumper just under your reg plate, at one end of this attach a pipe fitting and place a feeder hose up from your said scoop thing toward your induction kit, instant fresh air feeder..... but will rely most on the outside weather temp been cool, altho at higher speeds the air is more cooler and denser, altho this cause a drag system as well.....

hmmm more thinking being done, but the theory is there.........

  • think it may have to be the evo one. as i am not sure excatly how much room is required for the depth of the vent on the mr2 style. or how much room there is under our normal bonnets

any one have a measurment or the space under it.?

  • lequetis… u could get flexy alumium hose. and remove a fog light and lead it up to the air box.

if your car has ac you could remove it!
    you would lighten the car.
    allow more air circulation
let air flow more freely into the bay.
and its ben known to give a small gain!

  • thought of that my self but then thought it may be too far gone as converting fogs to indicators soon

however think that either the mr2 vent or the evo vent would give this style of bonnet (i hope, know not carbon but hey)

if anyone know where i might be able to get this apart from this seller as 600 dollars the 300 for bonnet is a bit far fetching on a student load and dj job

    thaks

  • thats a good idea, to remove a fog light and have it as an opening to the air to go through!

  • it would be ok but then you have to think as vent being used would be facing direction of travel (and we are in uk.) how much bloody rain is going to be sucked up at speeds. also know its low as standard. im not sure what the puddles are like around you but by hell i would be sucking them up.

  • True i supose.well was gud idea tho! Dont fancy cutting hole in my wing, but want sumwhere that will get the most air!

  • not a chance of rain getting up there! are ya mad! ur want to have the suction of a jet engine to get rain into your engine from that! and in that case id be more worried about small children and animals getting sucked up!

only think i would do is mesh it out to stop crap blocking it like leafs and that!
dont forget ur standard setup already dose this to a degree with the hose in the left wing pannel by the wheel! where the puddle splashes are!

anyway u can get a sort of forced induction kit! you get a cone filter and the piping you need the cone filter has a screw hole in it and you hook up the piping and screw up the hose to the filter and it has a surround which fits over about half the cone filter!
