Sooty 2.0 - Autozam AZ-3 B5ZE - rear bumper respray

  • Cheers mate!

    Soon… Very soon my pretties!

    Rx8 425cc denso injectors

  • I used to have one 'Thunderbird 4' in the belly of 'Thunderbird 2'!! Not fair….......youv'e got 4 of em!!!!

They are 'pretty', are they visible on the rail when installed?

Often wondered, is the 425cc the fuel volume output/minute or is it the swept cylinder volume they should be matched to ie on the K8 are they about 307.5cc? ie 1845cc divided by 6 cylinders = 307.5cc ???

Bet theres some 'Maths' involved in getting the correct ones?

Is the standard pump able to cope?

  • Lol I had one too! T2 was my fave for that reason!

Calculated by flow rate per min so 400cc every minute at 43.5psi fuel pressure. There's loads of calculators online to reduce the maths to zero :)

Polyurethane filled mounts! The cheap way to firm mounts:

    Painted and filled rear:

The front is installed, cba installing rear this morning! I've been working a fair bit so alas turbo progress is slow.

Also removed the AC pump, rad, fan, hoses etc. much cleaner engine bay!

  • How in zuse's butthole did you get them that smooth, mine look like a waterfall lol :)

  • haha it was liquid polyurethane - 2 part mix.

    Cleaned up:

    Rare sunny shot:

  • Lovely shot sun makes all the difference!

  • haha yea gotta make the most of it!

So I appear to have a B3S7 flywheel (same as 1.3 festiva?)

Today's work in a few photos!

My view for a fair bit of today:

Hours of work for this lol:

Not helped by A LOT of this:

So that's the horrible oil return job done. Alignment to the turbo drain is brilliant. Next step intercooler piping!

Oh yea and on Friday I also sorted out this disgusting sight:

And made this fit the B5 setup:

  • Good sumpage there! Nice big finned alu affair.. Nice work on that union too.. Funny I have just finished making up sump no.3 with a proper welded spigot this time too :D

Reckon you might be boosted before me huh :bigok: :D

  • lol sump #3! I dislike changing sumps, you must be well hardened to it now!

Thanks very much. I had planned to do it with a flat flanged gasketed return but this was far easier and I'm trying to resist getting too anal on this project.

I'm hoping to get boosted for the weekend. It'll be the weather and intercooler setup that will hold me back from that. Hoping to participate in the cruise for cancer on Sunday, boosted.

  • Nice one! You will be giving that stock clutch the ride of its life eh??!!

  • haha yea clutch will quite likely be toast, but who knows, I've read some 1.6 mx5 guys are ok over 200bhp. The ZE clutch is only 10mm extra diameter… positive thinking

  • Great job,Marco!!!!!Looking forward to see that big, shiny turbo on

  • Will be cool for you to find out the headroom on that clutch, good luck Bro hope all goes to plan 8)

  • Not bad for a 1.5  for whatever reason its only hitting 6psi but that's feeling pretty fun right now :-D

    More on this tomorrow!

  • Scweeettt!! Look forward to more updates :D

  • Awesome! Mad bastard. Should bring it down to Portlaoise to crash the rotary meet Sunday week :-)

  • haha thanks Sam & Jason. This is a fun little car now! I'm still waiting on some pipes to turn up to do the intercooler piping more efficiently/tidy but with this rain that's not going to matter much atm anyway!

Hmm ooor you could come up for the Cruise for Cancer Jason! Carrickfergus to Portrush :D

  • Some pics of the snail in his new house:

Intercooler piping needs tidied, a few temporary measures in place!

  • Very impressive Marco, top job

  • Thanks Gulfy! Now if only it would stop raining for a few hours I could get on with tidying up the bay…
