Sooty 2.0 - Autozam AZ-3 B5ZE - rear bumper respray

  • Very strange seeing it in someone elses yard!

Best of luck with it bud :bigok:

And eh, more pics of that FD ;)

  • Looks a nice little starter project, good luck Dood! I would so keep air-con if I had it!

    Mmmm FD looks tasty too!

  • Lori - I like it! I like it probably because it's different. I see some handy modding potential in it too. Adjustable steering wheel is nice to have too. And the groin vent under the wheel haha

Jason - thanks :) FD pics will have to wait ;)

Foxy - Ahh I know the air con is nice (thought not needed atm!) but man does it ugly up the engine bay! Maybe see if it can look better somehow.

Had some more time today to start working loose the rear subframe.

What a pleasure working on the mechanics of this car! All the bolts in the process of rear subframe removal came off without heat, violence or cutting :) Even the caged nuts on the body attachment of the trailing arms came off. Also I see this car has the cool trailing arms too. All loosened up ready for my refurbed and poly bushed subframe to go on. BUT I need to recover some rear disc handbrake cables first from the old car.

Yup, it's the reason my equipe now has the Eunos dash with the Adjustable steering wheel.

  • Know what you mean Marc I think that about the PS lines sometimes, but no
way I could do away with them!

Good times on all the bolts, although secretly I bet you are missing the heat, swearing & violence ;)

  • good work look forward to see this turbo'd

  • Yea I'll evaluate the lines later, perhaps they can be rerouted :-)

Cheers DJ can't wait! Fun to have a project that won't crumble when I jack it up :D

  • Funky interior pics:

My refurbed subframe with wytbushings/polybushes has been installed complete with disc conversion. I HATE drum brakes! Had to swap over the v6 handbrake cables too. Gave them a clean up too. Loads of things have been painted with POR-15 and hammerite.

Waiting for a replacement DS caliper to arrive, my bleed nipple sheared, then tried using an extractor which also sheared off :(

I'll have to put up pics of my under side soon, looking good… :)

I've also phoned up about windscreen replacement £120 new plus vat (plus fitting I guess). £60 for a transplant from the old car. First I have to tackle the roof welding.

So you have a hole, here's what you do:
fill it with bog roll to catch moisture and encourage rust
pile in filler several cm thick
    paint

    Good job:

    Smiley face haha:

Plan is to cut donor section out of old car and weld in. Should be exciting lol

And my other treat isn't so bad, the previous owner who did this needs to be banned from car work!

Looks easy enough to patch in.

Got a nice new bottle of pureshield argon ready for action. Need to pick up some mild steel welding rods and get TIGing.

  • Oh you bastard…

I want that HVAC panel, you dropping the AC?

Either way, looks fooking sweet, and nice work already.

  • Lol sorry!

Ac haven't decided. I'll see how much I use it. Don't even know if it works yet!

  • @94f1cda4d5=Marco:

    Lol sorry!

    I'll let you off :P

Good luck with the project bud, I picked up one of the new AC sets on ebay last year for £80. Going to be nice having a 100% new AC system installed. :)

  • Ah nice! I resisted. Maybe should have haha.

  • Might be selling mine, depends on if I want to install it :)

  • Disclaimer - I had nothing to do with that botch job on the roof

  • that"s a nice one,Marco.i had one years ago from IRL and loved it soo much, til somebody drove into side and wrecked it complitely.mine was 1992.

    Ouch.. That looks painful.

  • Flip unlucky Edy.

Lol Jason we know you're innocent…

I've started the patching in of said roof today.

Will hopefully finish that tomorrow. I've currently got it tacked in place. TIG welders are awesome :-)

  • That is very tidy job :respect:

  • What did you use to cut that out with, some dentistry tools!!?? looks too neat
