Dans KL SE project

  • Defo on the pro polishing, itll be worth it in the end :D

  • ok ok lol, any reccommendations on a good chrome polish that wont cost me the earth. I took a bit more time on the next too wheels and sanded the dish right down (going to try some brasso for a min to take a pic). I used to have some metal polish in a squeezy tube that i used to polish up old stainless backboxes before selling and it was bloody brill but i cant remember what it was called

  • Probably Autosol ? used it to polish my header tank.

  • that would be the stuff!! bloody brilliant thanks, will pick some up tomorrow :)

  • sorry for the delay in replying, was finishing off lacquering the last two wheels ;)

  • paint turned up today. super quick delivery and a massive thanks to gulfy for helping me out and saving me a few quid too :) cant believe it only took one day from the isle of man :D

  • 'ISLE OF WIGHT' :D

  • lol close enough pmsl. thanks bud, seriously appreciated. havent even sanded the bumper down yet haha

  • No worries, shame I don't live near as I would have sorted paintwork out for you in a day

  • Rims are on  and bumper has been sprayed (very badly, it got dark and i was using a solar powered light pmsl) will take some pics once i have washed it. I delocked and debadged the boot but i do need to sand it all down and spray it again as there was more filler left on than i thought (again, it was dark) but it looks better than it did.

  • new pics :D

  • love the de badged look, shame there is no simple way to remove that finger grab part below it, i usually just pull up on the spoiler to open the boot anyhow.

  • lookin good Bro, wheels do suit it nicely :D

  • need to get her low now but starting to take shape and looking good :D

  • de badge looks great fella and wheels look great too

  • trust me, the pictures do it justice lol. going to respray the bumper again in a min (if you look on the bottom pic you can see still see the primer) and there is alot of filler left on the boot but that can stay like that until after the show. thanks guys, defo need some lower springs on there, i think the shocks are stiff enough to cope with some lower ones. then all that is left to do really is a new lump :D

  • Can I ask why you have painted the rear bumper? If you are gonna spray it again, 'guide coat' it first.

    HOW TO

    1. Mask up surrounding area to bumper.
    2. Degrease/wipe clean bumper.
    3. Spray a dusting of black spray over primer/areas your'e not happy with
    (so its speckled)
    4. Rub down with wet and dry 400grit.
5 When the black speckles have vanished (no imperfections) you have a flat surface
    6. Wash off with fresh water, dry and tack off
    7. Spray

    SIMPLES!!

Don't mean to sound a know it all but its my trade and I'm only trying to help!

P.S How was the colour match?

  • I painted the bumper because if you have a look on the first page all the paint was cracking and it had been hand painted. I have already resprayed it lol. turned out alot better but I tried to sand down the boot lid again and fooked it up. going to have to go sand it down AGAIN once this paint is dry and go again. that is my fault for rushing i guess…..

  • oh and colour match was great. looks alot brighter than my normal paint but as close as could be really.

  • all resprayed now and looking better :) just need to clear the overspray off the lights with the green side of a sponge and cut the paint in and im away. Might tart up the engine bay tonight and will see if my mechanic can weld the new back box on for me :)
