MX3 1.6 1996 Still hesitates when accelerating.

  • Well anyone who has been following my last post on Oil Spark plug, noticed that i have also had problems with the Air Intake Pipe leaking and causing the engine to be hesitant when accelerating. I have changed the Air Intake Pipe for an original new replacement from Mazda, and i still have hesitancy, not as bad but still not perfect. I also have a problem with the tickover when at a standstill, because the rpm fluctuates between 1200 and 1000rpm then settles down to 800rpm after a few seconds. Is this anything to do with the Mass Air Filter sensor or engine management? I'm baffled by this problem now, has i have changed the spark plugs, ht leads, cam cover gasket, air filter, and Air intake pipe and filter with still no joy HELP PLEASE. :?: :?: :?:
    Many thanks
    Wayne

  • I get tick over fluctuation from the EGR valve not working properly ( thats the sensor on the throttle body ), when I unplug it the tickover is perfect, also I find it hesitates a lot when its cold because of the EGR but when its running correct its perfect, maybe need to look at that

Think I know which part that is, is this expensive to replace or is there a simple fix, it only fluctuates when it has been drove for a while.
Is it best to unplug it with the engine running to see if it points to the EGR valve matey.
    Many thanks

  • Distributor cap and rotor arm changed?

Distributor cap and rotor arm changed?

No I haven't changed those as yet. Just wish I could pinpoint the problem, instead of spending money on things I don't need lol.

  • I would have a look inside the cap then for any cracks or hairline fractures, and also inspect the rotor arm for poor contacts or a build up deposits, this could be your culprit…

My mate inspected the Dizzy cap a few weeks ago, so I don't think its that, the rotor arm might be though. I will have a look at that over the weekend and see if I can spot anything.
    Thanks guys
    Wayne.

  • If your car is pre 93 I have a brand new cap and rotor arm sat here
