How can we make the website a better place?

  • Yes you are correct, i think we need to be carefull about what we restrict, and not restrict much at all.

We might need to add new content also for members only. Maybe a downloads section for the manuals etc….

We would also need to advertise what has been restricted to entice people to want to see it.

But my main concern is how to get new members involved with club side of things.

  • Restricting certain info should gain more registrations. However if we go this route we need to ensure an effecient sign up procedure. We're always getting stories of people waiting for weeks to get approved. Has that been resolved yet?

  • Yes its been resolved Chris NW does 99% of the registrations now. He works in It so is online most of the time.

  • Right I just looked up the Ip addresses of all 8 guests who were online and ALL of them were BOTS from search engines who were just indexing our website. Which is a good thing!!

But it probably means that there are not many actual people on here as GUESTS, they are probably all just indexing bots.

So I would assume that we don't have a problem at all with people not signing up.

  • so these bots accessing are they set off when someone is searching

  • No

What a BOT does is update our website listing for searchengines like GOOGLE, MSN, YAHOO etc

Can you not just get rid of that feature altogether? :? It's frustrating. It happens when you change your e-mail addy too.

I can understand not wanting spammers and such signing up but in fairness if a moderator sees a new member called CheapViagraAndC0ckRingsForSale then they can just permab& the account rather than everyone else have to suffer the ordeal of waiting for their account to be approved.

  • If we did have a members only section what would you like in there :?: :?: :?:

    SECRET parts SPOTTED

Who are you - meet the members - a decent profile of who you are as a person not just an avatar of your car

members chat - what you are going to do and where you are getting it from etc

    YOUR IDEAS HERE :D :D

MORE EMOTICONS TO EXPRESS OURSELVES PLEASE    :| :| :|

DJ the last picture i saw of you, you were humping a robotic looking dinosaur things head pmsl

    lol

  • We eall can't get rid of the authentication process.

We get 1000+ spam registrations a month!!! its just too time consuming.

We are ontop of the authentication time now anyway.

  • well as a new member i will contribute what i can.

  • Great, what would you as a new member like to see on the website?

  • @85e5dae572=ukmx3admin:

Great, what would you as a new member like to see on the website?

and dont say boobies, it aint gonna happen

  • members wives??

  • how about paid and non paid members, when you pay you get a set of car stickers, a single news letter and some spotted cards to put on other cars with the website address

That way we can get a database of members who are serious, the money goes to the site and merchandise and when we have a big meet on EG japfest etc we can post out a flyer to say where we are all meeting etc and list the popular meets across the UK

  • you have to realise that the mx3 is a niche car not many people have them or no what they are….. thats why our forum is not so busy, i understand that people just register to sell stuff so i think there should be a 5 post minimum? paid is a good idea it will help the forum on fees, the sxoc do this.

    just my 2 cents..

  • HJC charge a one off £12 for lifelong membership, thats a pack of stickers 2 large 2 small a news / welcome letter and a list of popular events

For that £12 you also get priority for tickets / entry over non members for events such as japfest or janspeed and better discounts for sky insurance, OPIE oils or JDModified etc

The MX-3 is a niche car but myself and sam on the south coast WILL get some big notice on our large jap club down here when he has whacked the turbo in and because I have piled cash into mine this year and a lot of members have been watching it I have already been promoted in the website to be on the front row display at the large show in 2 weeks.
When the next dyno day is on I will be noticed as I will be near the top this time because it goes on how much BHP you are over standard and most get 40-50bhp

We need to have a lot more regulars getting together at events whether its pimped to 300bhp or just polished and standard a few together gets noticed. 10 cars went to japfest and we got a lot of people looking over the cars this year and I got some good feedback, even off the HJC people who I could have gone with and been in the main arena

Its like the lottery - you have to be in it to win it

only us can keep this car alive
