  • Looking very good Jay!. Have you thought about getting a oil cooler on the oil also it does have good uses.

    Thanks It's slowly getting there
Lol yes I've thought about one for the oil I need one with a filter relocation thingy
I'll be doing a bit more tonight lol

  • Great work Jay will def come to see you use it in anger.

thanks fee jay its going to be a while before its road worthy still loads to do on it the goal is next April or may :)

  • picked up the new LSD and gear box at the weekend and couldnt wait and pulled the box apart and fitted the LSD and put back together and what a job it is lol thanks to rainy for the usermanual whick came in very hand
just need to finish cleaning and some paint
    thanks barry for the diff
    pic to follow soon

  • Hope it works out for you bud, cant wait to see this finished now, doubt it will be that long the way you go at it :D

  • just a few pics of the gear box in the making fitting the LSD lol
    before

    and new diff fitted

while searching e-bay finaly found a supercharger for the project but not sure if i got it for the right price but im paying 250 for this without the manifold

  • you dont need manifold mate, you can tell from bolts where manifold bolts on if its the right m62. I cant really tell from photos. I spent ages searching mercedes forums to try and turn part number into a M number and it was a pain in arse to find details, so i just look at bolts now!, cant tell from your photo tho as you can only see 2 of them.

  • heres a couple more pics

  • Have you bought it already? Definitely not the same SC I have anyway which is the Eaton M62 3rd gen I think : A111 090 03 80

I think that's from a c class c200 I think which is a 178hp 2.0l engine. If that's correct, it's probably a bit small to feed a KL. Really a M62 or M90 would suit better. If you're drag racing really you want the m90, but bit tricky squeezing it in. Turbos easier to make power TBH. Unless you get a harrop, rotrex, vortech, procharger. Though I guess it depends on your goals 12s 11s 10s?

EDIT: here's an m62 clutch SC. You'd be wanting to change pulleys most likely for serious power:

    And some extra info:

    http://www.eaton.com/EatonCom/ProductsServices/PerformanceProducts/Products/Superchargers/M62/index.htm

And congrats on the Phantom slip install :) Can't say I liked being the gearbag. At least you didn't have to drill out any diff rivets

  • I'm not sure either, the nuts where the manifold bolt on are a square pattern, where the m62 is more hexagon shape. Could be a m45 off a slk200. not to piss on your bonfire but this would be ok for upto 2lt.

  • thank you for the info marco ive thought about a turbo but the s/c apears to be a bit easyer to fit also after seeing you supuercharger set up it just kinda stuck in my head i want to do that lol
the sc is off a slk 200 luckaly ive only payed a deposit so wont be getting now

im aiming for low 14's well thats the goal
again thanks for your help guys

  • Ha fair enough! 14s with the 1.8 I take it? You could hit low 14s with just a KLZE and bolts ons. The SC would probably be ok for the 1.8 really with some pulley changes.

  • supercharger FTW!!! i would take a s/c over turbo anyday :D

  • Lol the aim is 14s with the ze I was going on that a stock V6 (wes) dose 17
My thought was run a supercharger and a little nos too but not sure how much the stock internals will take but the nos is only a extra thought at the moment

  • It might require hybrding the engine, im sure you could pick up a de for not that much and do it. IIRC the DE has stronger internals.

  • IIRC Yanks have got 13.9 with a ZE plus bolt ons. SC with an m62 and the right size pulleys you should be low 13s with good tyres I'd say. Stock internals will take 300whp+ generally before you need to worry much. If it's tuned I bet you'll break a gearbox before your engine!

DE and ZE rods are equally wussy. DE has lower comp ratio, so has a little more room for error regarding the tune. However ZE will make the same power on less boost. Which is good for SC, as getting high boost requires the right pulley ratios. The only negative IMO of a ZE over DE is the intake valve springs (softer - valve float) and the ZE retainers are known to crack. So swap in DE springs to replace ZE intake springs and you're good to go. Or get interprep springs.

  • great thanks thats realy useful info thank you marco looks like ive got a bit of work to do "when" the engine gets here lol

  • Well you don't have to, plenty of ZEs survive without that mod! Yep barrywhite that's exactly the fix. Though with you making a drag car I expect you'll be thrashing it bigtime :)
