Roof lining

  • So, removing the roof lining? Easy? Fun? Anyone let me know what's involved in doing so?

  • Easy, remove all sills around doors and boots. Remove side pillars. Remove sunroof switch. Remove sun visors, remove rear view mirror, remove side grab handles. Basically every item around roof.,
Then yank away, it's on pop clip things.
But it is very thin and old, mine creased slightly when I took it out, but then if you plastering it with adhesive car park tickets you prob won't notice lol.
Projects looking good btw, wasn't really sure about it when you mentioned army paint work but now i keep looking at your project as you update it.

  • **Piece of.

    Remove the A-pillar trims.
Remove the sunroof surround (open the sunroof, push the trim upwards and inwards).
Remove the sunroof switch/lights (they pop out with a firm yanking).
Remove the rear view mirror and retainer (two crosshead screws).
Remove the sunvisors (two crosshead screws).
Remove the grab handles (push out the plastic trim clip, two crosshead screws).
Pull the tops of the door rubbers down off the doors.

Lightly remove the rubber at the top of the boot and wiggle your hand between the roof and the lining. There's three clips - one in the middle towards the back and one either side of it - which you can simply put your fingers around and pry out by levering your hand against the roof.

If you break it putting it back in - because it's made of rice paper and hope - I have a spare :D**

  • Excellent, cheers Famine, shall get it off tomorrow and give it a damned good seeing to.
