  • I have a love/hate relationship with my car. The DAY AFTER I BOUGHT IT the automatic transmission went completely out. I had no reverse gear. It sat in the shop all winter until I could get it paid for to have a new transmission machined for it, because for whatever reason there are about 5 mx3's that exist in the USA. -___-

But from the moment I crunk it up I knew it was a good car. Well, I liked it more than my honda, at least. Its the first car I bought on my own and is a daily driver. Sure it has its dings and dents, and the motor could honestly use a good rebuilding. -cough KLZE cough-

The window switches are fading, the paint is old, and there is a persistant check engine light that won't go away. It drinks oil and has sucky takeoff, which I stubbornly blame on it being an automatic. But I love it. I've named it, and disgraced the poor thing with what looks like "pink" neons and a girly matching interior.

As of today, I have upgraded the following:
Seatcovers and floormats. I'll put up some pics when the sun's out.
    Underbody neons in purple.
12 inch subwoofer and 400 watt amp. (And it kicks!)
    HID-ish headlights.

    Now for the pictures!

  • Welcome to the MX3 Hate/love connection bro. I know what you mean, my car is a bastard too that's why I'm doing what I'm doing with mine…............

I love the MX3 and hate to love it. Hope you get all the problems sorted.

  • Every time I get ready to junk it, something happens that makes me like it again. In its prime I tested out how fast it would go…and even as recently as 6 months ago I got 130 mph out of it. I was very pleased. Also frightened. I haven't tried to top it again since then. It has torque-e days and slow days, just like a person.

Snap! I had practically sold mine so cleaned it and took some pics and rang the guy and said "sorry, can't do it" and he'd offered me £500 for it, now it's probably worth £150 (for the wheels). I call it all sorts and then it wakes up and makes me smile especially when all the young kids laugh and try it on in their 1 litre euro pops.

Mines only the 1600 4 cylinder but it still huffs it's way to happiness in a way that IT only knows. Good to see someone on here with the same attitude as myself.

  • i used to have the 4cyl…now its falling apart cause my mom doesnt know how to drive :?

  • Mazda had huge problems with the auto transmission in these and other cars, they had a few recalls on them because of reliability, try and get a stick shift V6, you will never regret it

  • I had the joy of learning how to drive stick on a 4 cylinder mx3. It ruined me. The takeoff and general fun of driving isn't comparable when it comes to stick vs auto.
