Hoses

  • ar right like a silicone hose kit?
    Dont think anyone like samco makes them for mx3?
    I know a few companys that will make silicone
    hoses to order , but its expensive and you have
    to render them the hose to copy.

  • Seen some univeral hoses in halfords before, should expect theyd be fine as a replacement, im going to try and find some local breaker yards this weekend, if you take a photo and post it up then if i can find a breaker and they have an mx3 ill get it for you, assuming you dont fix it before hand

  • cheers matey but took ur advice an grabbed one off a guy breaking his.
    I tried halfords and i think someone must have gone a bit mental in there as everyone i spoke to in there looked like they had been set on fire an put out with a tyre iron.
    im not sure if this is normal but the staff didnt know thier arse from their elbow let alone what an MX3 was. oh and after several minutes of interrogation no they dont sell rad hoses. well not to me anyway.

    bloody halfords!!!

    here ends tthe lesson. lol.

  • Just had a look on their website, which is utterly useless at the best of times, often the products in store arent listen, but I did find a selection of small diameter hose ups 3/4", I know ive seen them before, will have a look next time im in.

  • and yes, thats how halfords staff normally are, dont expect them to know the difference from a sausage and a valve cap. Their utterly useless, you gotta remember when going there as opposed to a motor factors is that the kids in there are the ones you see driving around with underage girls in the back of their car, hanging around outside mcdonalds and fitting uber bore exhausts to a 1.2 saxo, they use a very precise and secretive formula;

    ([1.2l engine X QTY Iridium Spark plugs] + TTL speaker RMS) - combined age of girls in car + filter surface area X exhaust diameter = Bugatti Veyron Slayer

    check it yourself…

    ([1.2x4] = 4.8 + 200 = 204.8 ) - [12 + 12] = 180.8 + 64 = 244.8 X 6 = 1468.8bhp

    as this shows, for every year younger the girls in your car are, you gain 6bhp.

    Just imagine the power of a school bus!

  • wow thats frightning, what makes it doubly scary is how close the formula is to the more commonly known one to calculate the likelyhood of the owner being a dickhead. glad you let me know, would hate to get the two confused.

  • I am surprised halfords staff know how to put the price stickers on anything,

    a funny one last year, my dad has been a mechanic since he was 15, he turned 70 last year and is still going for it.

    A woman he knows had a battery fitted there and within a week she came to him to find out what the problem she had was, he opened the bonnet and found they put a battery big enough for a lorry in her vauxhall corsa. The terminals were touching the inside of the bonnet, it was only the sound proofing stopping it earthing.

    He drove the car himself there and got the manager out who started to tell him that there was nothing wrong and he didnt know what he was talking about.

    My dad lost it then and told him that he had over 50 years in the motor trade and that his staff were probably too thick to get a job at macdonalds opposite and his idea of an apprenticeship was watching a video made by another man with zero mechanical knowledge.

    The manager took the keys from him and took it into their workshop and locked the doors so my dad had to wait outside while they changed it for the correct one.

    The best thing with halfords is going in and just asking mildly technical questions and watch their face screw up because they cannot find the answer by blipping a barcode

    you must have a different formula for that. The one I use is;

    !@"* = Baseball cap = Yes/No

    I think the answer they go on is determined by the price of the item your after, the most expensive one is the best, even if that means them recommending you put £11 a litre brake fluid in your washer bottle.

  • jeez, that whould mean i'm around 8236 bhp! :p

    thats totally possible, if you add a shark fin aerial you gain an extra 132bhp

    oh, and I found a school bus that had been modified using the above formula, it really works>>>>
