Leaky spark plug?

  • Yeah the rocker cover gasket is visably leaking in a few places at the front anyway so yeah. I'll try that thanks.

  • normally its the rear bank on a V6 that gets neglected as you need to take the inlet manifold off to get at it.

Front one is a doddle, rear one is a pig.

  • Sorry to bump a oldish thread, Just about to replace my rocker cover set due to the same issue, anyone know the size of the bolts holding it down, Would like to get them replaced with some Stainless Steal ones while i'm at it (or if anyone knows any better ones to use?)

I bought the ford probe 24v kit, being as it's practically the same. Otherwise you could goto a local fastener shop and just take out a bolt and show them. Don't know the size and pitch offhand though sorry!

  • Yeah, 99.9% its the rocker gasket leaking into the spark plug hole.

If you buy the rocker gaskets from Probestore they include the bolts.

If you have to change the rear rocker, you must remove the Inlet Manifold so you might want to change the IM gasket, but its usually ok just to use the old one.

Also while your at it you should paint up your rocker covers and IM, high temp aluminium paint is the quickest and cheapest way to tart up an IM. I also use high temp paint on my rockers as I used normal paint once and it blistered a bit. Hycote is the best make i've found and Halfords own is the second best all the rest i've tried are crap.

Any Checkpoint store will order Hycote Very High Temp or VHT paint for you as its one of their suppliers, even though they often don't stock it. Despite what they might tell you the other brands they stock are crap compared to the Hycote or Halfords.

Here is a pic of the Hycote paint job.

  • night, if there SS ones you can just get them Inadoized(sp?) I did this for a lot of my bike bolts, or if you know the size try out

see if they sell them, very good IMO.
