  • @0062da7a0b=djmarcopolo:

    Decat pipe
Lose as much weight as possible !!!
I have found the sunroof weighs around 20kgs so you could remove it all and just glue in the panel or glue in a piece of perspex

    decat next then thanks

im only using this on for racing untill my v6 but i do take all the seats out apart from the drivers seat which made o.2 secs differance now running 19.5 secs for quater mile with a 0.3 reaction time

any more that you can do to the engine ?

  • Ford Probe 2.0 header mod and can be bought from here.

Corksport do a header especially for the 1.6 either.

I want to give the Probe header mod a go early next year, the Corksport one is $350 without shipping so it works out a good bit more expensive.

  • @9f366d684c=Garfy1981:

Convert in to a manual :D

i get a realy good reactoin time with the auto better than most manuals but thanks for the info

  • I'll be honest and take money into account here because if money wasn't an issue we'd all drive supercars!

Depending on how tidy your 1.6 is then I'd sell it for £500+

1.) Sell your 1.6 and put in an extra £150 and buy a decent 1.8 v6
2.) Sell your 1.6 and put in an extra £560 and buy a 1.8 with a knackered engine, then buy a ZE and just drop it in yourself as is.
3.) Sell your 1.6 and put in an extra £1150 and buy a 1.8 with a knackered engine, then buy a ZE, rebuild it, upgrade clutch, upgrade flywheel.
4.) If you want to pay for being sentimental then a BPT engine swap will get you the most gains but its hard to find one guaranteed in good order I think it came to around £1500 last time I priced up all the bits.
5.) Do no.4 Then upgrade the Turbo to BPD Spec and the ECU to Megasquirt or better and get it tuned in.

Its all about budget really, personally i'd buy a 1.8 and go from there as any mods you do to it will all fit when you decide to drop a KLZE in.

i have a v6 with a klze with lightweight fly wheel ready to start work on that i am doing for racing but my 1.6 is an every day car that i am using for racing until the v6 is finnished
is there no mods for the 1.6 engine?

  • You could go down the route of Ram Air filter setup, probe headers, decat, straight through CAT back system and it will be more responsive and sound nicer but it wont be much faster.

There are other avenues like one of the 1.8 BP varient swaps which you can find in scrap yards for £200 nowdays and are around 140bhp but I dont know much about those but it still wouldn't pull like the 1.8 V6 due it being a V6 and having more torque.

And still cheaper to sell up and buy a 1.8 V6, whats wrong with doing that for your everyday car?

  • I have a ZE that was my everyday car and loved it!!

Then money got tight and I used my 1.8 as the everyday car and just used the ZE occasionally.

Then money got tighter and bought RsRoadkillas 1.6 showcar and that was my everydar car while I fixed it, sold off some of its goodies Making about £1200 overall for a weeks work :D

Then money got really tight and my girlfriends 1991 Micra (50 MPG) became the everyday car and the ZE (21 MPG) only used occasionally and the 1.8 just sits there looking sad.

But i'm re-styling the ZE and once thats done to hell with the money its going to be my everyday car again.

I've had other fast cars but they have all felt too refined compared to the ZE.

  • When you doing the KLZE swap?

  • @e28e372cd3=ukmx3admin:
