Hi

  • Moved as requested. :D

  • Thanks, much appreciated :D

  • That 30x is in Noble green with the wrap around spoiler I want

Do you want to swap it for an RS spoiler in black :D :D :D :D

  • Thanks for the offer mate but, I'm kinda' attached to it :D what does the RS spoiler look like?

The conversion is complete, she lives! I had hooked up the reverse wires wrong at first and they were staying permanently on, it's all sorted now. The idle was a bit rough too, I had a play around with the ICS and the idle screw and she seems to be running very well now, I will be getting a new one shortly just to play it safe, all I can say is 'WOW' what a car I have never driven one before and for a small hatch back she can get up and go, might have to find a KLZE now the bug has bit me! :D

  • KLZE bug is a wonderful bug…

I'll have mine one day lol

  • ive got the KL-ZE bug hopefuly it will be a KL-ZE turbo
what ive read people that have done the ze all said that they would never go back to the k8

  • okay todays update, she was running fine and had organised to get a blue slip (registration check) I think you call them MOT's and as I was about to drive over to the testing station she started running rough, bad idle ect, I did a quick search on the work computer and found that possibly the TPS is shot, checked it and seems that could be the problem, ordered another one $110 Oz dollars, should arrive tomorrow, fingers crossed that that is the problem, I checked for vacuum leaks ect and seems fine, also checked the temp switch as when I unplugged it the idle ran fine and when I plugged it back in, it ran rough again but, our work mechanic checked it with a mult-meter and says that the ohms are within the acceptable levels. I don't mind dramas with cars I have owned a few GSi Barinas (Corsa B) so I know what to expect LOL

  • :D Seems the TPS, a stuffed no.2 plug lead and timing was the problem, I have a temporary lead hooked up at the moment, fitted and adjusted the TPS and will be getting new spark plugs and leads tomorrow. Very happy, she runs great, off to the testing station tomorrow hoping she will pass, wish her luck!

  • Good stuff. Was the TPS actually out of range/dead or did it just need setup properly? Good luck with the test!

  • Cheers Marco, the TPS was stuffed, they do eventually wear out, seems a lot better now, took her to the testing station in the morning and drove the GSi around there from work around lunchtime and the bloke said he hadn't had a chance to get to it yet, probably wouldn't get to it till tomorrow  which is fair enough I suppose, they are pretty busy. Hopefully will all be done tomorrow and I'll see what it needs to pass if anything.
On another note I had a bloke at my work chase up a turbo KLZE for around $850 Oz dollars, which is probably around five pounds UK money lmao so, will be looking into possibly buying that shortly, just need to get her on the road legally first!

  • A bit of an update, she failed her roadworthy grrr, the left front strut is a bit soft apparently and the rear rocker cover gasket is leaking a bit of oil. So I ordered a brand new set, they wanted $30 each gasket but, because I got them through work the trade price was $32 the pair :D found a pair of struts through another wrecking yard for around $77 each, I may as well just lower her with some Kings spring or something maybe that will stiffen her up a bit? She seems fine to me but, he's the 'expert' so will have to take him at his word.

  • Can't believe how strict you Aussies are over there with your cars! Nuts man!

  • Yeah, I know it can be a pain, in NSW we have to get them done every year but, down South in Victoria you only need it done if your selling your car.

Update Strut arrived today I only ended up getting the passenger side one and ordered some super low springs, should arrive Monday/Tuesday hopefully. I will be fitting them after the retest on the 30X :P

  • Update….. She passed and is now registered and insured, lowered springs 35mm and soon to arrive, new distributor, the correct one for my car as it apparently has the 626 one in it so, the ecu is searching for the cam sensor and takes a long time to start. apparently I have the TOT57271 and need the TOT57171, also it has the usual crack in it so definitely need to fix that. Loving this car, even with the problems it has had, it is still enjoyable to drive.

  • Hello and welcome to the forum, i know a bit late but i aint been around lol… well seems youve had a few issues with the new car but from your updates seems your getting there at last well done for sticking with it and enjoy the car and site also..

    Rainy...

  • nother' update with pics…

I bought some new 205/40/17 tires had them fitted, lowered her around 40mm (Kings Springs) through a member on our Barina club (Corsa) new tailights and wing mirrors, they adjust electrically but, I need to hook up the repeaters, hopefully this week-end. Re-spray and dings removed shortly, just deciding on a colour!? I was thinking that I should leave her the original Noble Green?? Still need to replace the distributor with the TOT57171 cause' the 10 second start up is starting to get annoying

new speedo cluster as the old one was scratched and hard to see through…

I'll be removing the wing repeaters and welding up and filling the hole, over here we have to have a visible side repeater so, the mirrors solve that problem.

More to come, the engine swap soon!

  • Yeah, we have to have side reps over here too (sucks). I'm not a big fan of the mirrors, I prefer the Gandor mirrors (but they don't do them for the MX3 :( ).

    Wheels look good 8)

  • Looking good, the noble green looks great, if you want to respray it sell me the spoiler first 8)

lol, there is a wrecking yard that I have been getting some parts from through my work, they have three sitting there at the moment, is it the wrap around hatch spoiler your after? Might be able to work something out for you, I'm after a set of clear lenses for my front bar indicators. I can't find them anywhere over here.

I wasn't to keen on the wing mirrors at first either but, they are slowly growing on me, the mirrors and the tailights arrived within three days from the US so was pretty impressed with that!

I am thinking about getting 205/45/17's as I think the tire is a little low looking if you know what I mean? I think the 45 will fill the guards a little better.

  • Heya, if you want clear lens indictaors, buy a pair from the UK as they have orange inserts for the bulb but essentially fuly clear then to make them fully clear you can do that yourself, you will see that the front lens is clipped on, gently remove that and you will see the yellow unit is a peice of plastic thats stuck inside, just break that out and replace the lens cover. Clear lenses done !!!

Ask on the wanted section or next time im at the breakers I will get you a price

I am definately after a wraparound spoiler, I would hate to think how much the postage would be. Noble green I am defianetly after but if you have a breakers near you with different colours then find out how much to send as many as you can get plus some eunos and 30x badges plus I am sure we will find some other parts to chuck in the parcel that you cannot get here
