Lowering Springs

  • I've been driving the car quite a lot lately and I've noticed the back can get a bit light and upset fairly easily, so I want to stiffen it up a bit. Took a look on eBay and the Eibach springs seem fairly decent pricewise and they are probably good quality, I don't want to drop it a whole lot and I think the Eibach's are a 35mm drop which isn't so bad. Is anyone using the Eibachs or have springs which they recommend?

  • Yeah eibach springs do have a very good rep.
Im using apex -35mm springs, wich are alot cheaper than
the eibachs, but i really rate them for lowering springs,
still very tight but not too much for a daily driver :D

  • if eibach are good enough for brabus then its good enough for me.
ive used them on a few cars and liked them.

  • you can get 45mm lowering springs if you search and then your car will look low, on my old one i bought 40mm apex springs and you could hardly tell at the back that it had been lowered.

  • H&R do the -45mm. Alot of yanks use them, and they do look great and apparently handle very well. They're probably pushing the stock shocks a bit but sure.

I know the feeling! Think I'll end up with ksports/d2/xyz soon enough.

  • If the back end has started getting light and a bit twitchy its a good sign that a shock is gone or there is a spring fault somewhere or you are getting more confident driving it and just pushing it harder

I checked out the shocks before and they seem grand, so I'd say I'm probably just driving the car on a bit more :)

Hmm, that's an option as well then.

Has anybody got pics of 3's lowered by 35/40/45mm?

That looks nice! Might go for a set of -40's now.

  • 40's are nice but how bout 45's  Mistake ignore

  • Barry, thought yours was on coilovers. you telling me there -45mm and what shocks is it running

  • Nope sorry my mistake even more unbeliveable Lowered 40 mm on G-max springs. No coilovers here but damn i want some. This is what i was saying about different types of springs, rainy mine and yours are both 40mm and i assume you have 17" rims but im sure mine looks lower

Standard shocks bearly any play, very hard ride but solid.

  • mines on -40 apex solid ride but yours looks lower, at times my back end dont even look lowered..
