1 stupid Question and 2 Odd Ones.

  • Stupid Question

Does the Eunos have a Engine light? (for faults)

On the dash (left hand side) only the bottom and the top lights light up, the 2 in the middle don't.

    Also (Odd Questions)

It's also blowing massive amounts of hot air (I can withstand say 6-7 seconds with my hand over the vent before I have to move it) out the air vents and it does this normaly within 3 mins of turning her on (engine temp remains level at just below horizontal) and it's not eating coolent. Normal or …

    The other question is..

ATM the car is very slow at gettin up the rev range, got plans to replace the dizzy, HT's ect, however, Could a blocked cat cause this?

  • to your "stupid" question (usually these are good questions ;))

There are pics of a US spec cluster and also a Euro cluster in this thread… I'm not sure if these help at all as I think the UK spec is different from both of these.

  • I can't see a dash on there that matches mine, I'll take a pic in a few and upload it :) for ya to take a peek.

  • I'm gonna be cheeky and hijack this thread

Can anyone tell me what the light is when you turn the car on on the left hand side, it's orange and looks like the road sign for slippery road surface?

I've seen them on cars with traction control and thought it might be that but find it odd for an old Front wheel drive car to have TC.

  • ABS light I think

    ABS light I think

Yup yup yup, that makes sense. My civic just had "ABS".

    Cheers Gulfy

  • Middle 2 lights are ABS fault + Engine management

    Temperature
Normally temps take time to warm up with the water warming up, for it to be getting hot beyond the point of pain there is a problem present, it could be that the water system is blocked somewhere and all you have is cooking hot air in the heater matrix and the water is slowly running around the engine while the engine is full of air in the high parts and the temperature is sensor is still immersed in water.
If its a V6 remove the high point filler cap on the left side of the engine when Its cold (DO NOT DO IT WHEN ITS STILL HOT)
if its full to the top ok if not fill to the brim, then start you engine and leave running in tick over until up to temperature (dont rev it up)
When the thermostat opens it will let the water run freely around the engine and will clear any air locks, gently increase revs when it when its hot and the water pump will force all air out of the system and keep topping up where necessary to keep it full, when its done make sure the filler cap is put back on when its full and make sure the water header tank is full to the maximum mark (then when the engine cools and the water shrinks it will pull the water from the header tank.
If this still continues to get that hot that quickly you may have a blockage somewhere you need to find fast !!!

    SLOW REVS / acceleration

1st check the pipe from the airfilter into the throttle, if this leaks slightly at all from cracking (mazda common fault) bad fit etc then it gets a false reading to the airflow sensor and does its own head in.
otherwise start with plugs, then the fuel filter and air filter, then oil + filter if still no change then do the leads and dizzy.
Once you have done all this and no change then check the cat because you now know the engine is all good, if the cat is blocked or broken it will fail the MOT anyway, find an MOT station and ask if he can do a quick test between MOTs for emmisions and that will tell you straight away, if thats fine, try taking the handbrake off LOL

Thanks bud, They have bugged the bulb behind the engine managment light, will pull codes tomorrrow see and will ask for the emissions tomorrow as well.

Will check out the other things on the weekend, Nice post btw and the hand break is off lol :)
