Respray(matt black)?

  • I sprayed my mini turbo matt black myself…

Borrowed a compressor an!d spray gun off a mate, bought the paint and primer, gave my garage a good clean and sprayed it in there...

Its easy! And when I did scuff it on track days I just got a spray can and sprayed it with that!!!

Cost me no more than £80 to do the whole car!

  • matte black FTW! :D the more stealth mx-3's we can get the better hahahaha

    moonegg's converts haha

  • I was going to say matt black sounds like bad idea until i saw this:

  • Loved the matt black look since Robocop was released.

Very tempted to get mine done Matt Black.

  • @4a31c93956=jay1987:

hi everyone i need alot of rust sorted on arches n other parts so i need rapirs and respray, does anyone know of a cheap place? im thinkin of matt black aswel

Did my civic myself with shakey shakey rattle cans, it looked awesome.

  • I plan on doing my track car matt black with a spray gun. someone people I have seen have used black board paint and others a black primer, not sure what il use yet but il post up when its done

  • I used black primer on mine… been that way on both for about 5 years... I just have to respray once a year... cheap and easy and turns out decent

  • Personally, I would use a specific matt topcoat paint, go for a 2 pack paint, that will ensure that it will last, blackboard paint will mark too easy imo. primers are ok, but they are not designed as a topcoat, they are porous, my local paint supplier do a 2 pack matt black topcoat for around £15.00 a litre, good quaility too, you could go down the road of using a black basecoat and sealing it with some clearcoat with a matt additive in but I know that the additive is fairly expensive. Shame I live on the IOW as I would offer to help/use my paintshop.

  • There are plenty matt balck cars around, I get the matt black audi A3 at my work a lot that they use to do all the filming for top gear.
Get a bit creative and make it a one off, that also increases value like

    TRY

mask a straight line down the sides the same level as the bumpers paint the bumpers and below the line gloss black - get creative and add a strange colour mettalic flake to that like yellow to make it stand out.

Then have a tribal design or maybe a checker pattern or even a huge mx-3 or mazdaspeed logo made at a sign writers stick that over the sides over the gloss paint then spray matt black, when dry remove the vinyl and sand any edges with 1200 grit to smooth that would look sick

    OR
an unusual idea is find some patterened net curtain, use some thin spray glue and glue the curtain down the side then spray over the curtain and remove then the pattern will stay down the side

A one off paint job would not always add value, as you are painting car to your taste not others, check my car out for a 'one off'
