MX3 GULF TRACK CAR KLZE

  • Car was oversteering  Think I had the front suspension set up too soft which was making the back end lift up and lose its grip, have been tweaking it again, slicks are 2nd hand and buried in my mates garage, he is gonna dig them out for me today and fit them tomorrow, (he is a tyre fitter) so I don't know what make they are, will eventually buy some kankook slicks, I believe 15" slicks are difficult to get hold of??

Will let you know what slicks they are when I find out….............

  • Thats cool, always wondered how they would handle with slicks on, never got round to fitting them myself.

  • Car is all ready to go at last  Put it on trailer tonight, picked up slicks earlier, they are in not too bad conditon, michelins too :o just hope its gonna be dry on thursday! Off to 'torque of the devil' tomorrow, to finally get car dyno'd, just hope its putting out the BHP we hope it is, or I will be proper sulking LOL

My camera will be charged up this time, so should get some good footage!!

  • barr the slicks is your car perfectly road legal? Just wondered how stripping car parts affects mots and such ??

was on www.speedhut.com earlier and designed some nice orange dials for yours while i was bored, can add the gulf logo to them too!.

    oh good luck btw

  • Yeah she is road legal, taxed and MOT'd, just the interior stripped out, want to trailer it as its noisy inside, not that comfortable in long journeys and no stereo!! Plus if something goes wrong, at least we can get it home. You could have bought those dials for me, what with christmas coming up LOL! Will look on link in a minute. Me and my mate will try our best for the name of KLZE MX3 on thursday!! Will be taking my laptop with me tomorrow, so if hotel has wifi I will post info of rolling road on here tomorrow night…........

  • On way way home after brands, on the car ferry, they have free wi-fi, so I can post!! It was a wet day at brands hatch, absolute nightmare trying to put the power down  But it was not too bad, will definately post some footage this weekend, I'm knackered, its late and I need my bed. Anyway took car to 'torque of the devil yesterday, results:-

    195.8 BHP / 180lb ft TORQUE

Happy with the results I think….............................

Will post up more info over the weekend,

  • Good power output there you must be pleased.

  • What mods have you done to the motor and which ECU are you using?

  • Engine is standard, mods are

    CAI
    Stainless headers
    Uprated HT Leads
    K8 gearbox & Flywheel
    De cat
    2.5 Stainless Exhaust system
Drilled / grooved Discs all round
    S/S brake hoses
    Green stuff pads all round
    K sport Coilovers

    Mods inside car

    Stripped out interior
    Sparco bucket seats
    Sabelt harnesses
    OMP steering wheel
    Relocated battery behind passenger seat
    Fabricated halfcage

    Think thats it!

Whoops forgot to mention ECU, not sure what ecu number is but it was from same engine donor car, will find out….............

Hope to get it weighed this month, be interesting what bhp - ton power ratio is......................

  • The ECU was a KL31 Paul

All manual KLZE's have a KL36, the auto's have a KL31. You can use either ECU on a manual but only the KL31 will run an auto.

Just a shame you didnt take the ecu to start with rather than fannying about with those chips etc!

Dont forget, you need to run it on 99 RON/Optimax to get max bhp as the ECU is set for that.

  • Question?? How come I have a kl31 ecu and the engine/gearbox was a manual?? Just curious, as car runs fine…..................

  • sorry, I am a dork. got my 31's and 36's the wrong way round.

    kl31 manual
    kl36 auto

  •

Have not got around to getting car weighed yet, its been too cold to get car off trailer from last track day, its been put away out of sight for the time being, will get round to weighing car when weather warms up a bit

As soon as I do I will post up result

  • that mx6 runs in the salon libre here he has thrown stupid figures of money at it!

Oh did you ever manage to sort your idle out now and if so what does it idle at?

  • Still have a slight idle problem, can't remember exactly what its idling at as I have not used car since december 4th! LOL. If I can recall, idle was fine when engine was cold, it just seems to search up and down a bit when warmed up, nothing too drastic, I would say between 1300 - 750 revs, not all the time mind, when the weather gets better, I will find the time to start working on car again, pull the codes first job….......................
