so today i went on a little mootch about, theres this sound like a flat tyre, which i have already had checked by the mech who says he can't hear it, now today I hit the motorway to give the 3rd oil change in a month a good spanking, i notice under braking from 70ish to 40ish (traffic and morons) that the steering felt weird, dunno how to describe it but kinda like i had no real control. later over a few speed bumps with the window down going up was fine but coming down there was a mechanical clunck from the drivers side, this happened every time over the next few then having become obsessed with the noise took it to a local road with a national speed limit, plenty of twisty turns etc, same thing, i turn the wheel its fine but somehow feels a bit, well, it worried me.

Has something bad happened and my mech has'nt told me or is it just me?

Was an aweful clunking noise aswell. That would be my guess as well. I paid alot but u should get one for about 30 quid if you shop around and can wait for the part. Not like old muggins here who paid 57 quid cos they were the only people that had the part. Damn u mill autos

£27 for the cv joint alone
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-MX3-MX5-CV-JOINT-NEW-CMZ45016E-/260113716036?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3c8ffc5344

Under £40 for the complete kit
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CV-JOINT-KIT-MAZDA-MX3-1-8I-1845-P-6-94-11-98-/390117439913?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ad4cfb9a9

Make sure they are the right one because I found one for a V6 91-94 WITHOUT ABS for £24 but I am guessing that is for a 323 because the MX was ABS as standard right across the range

kinda weird that now i know what the front is, the rear is banging about the place, at first i thought its was to space saver or something in the boot but i cleared it all out inc the parcel shelf and its thudding on something, think maybe the shocks have gone?

Its worth doing both rears at the same time because you might find it slumps on the old corner a little but if you are short on budget doing one is fine, the rear is also easy to do yourself, the only problem is you need a spring compressor but if you get one of those you might as well lower it all in one hit :D :D :D

I can PM you where to get some lowering springs second hand if he still has them
